Description:
Pappoudiko is a building complex believed – based on historic writings – to have been built, in its first stage, between the Megalithic age and 1855. It is currently divided into an eastern and a western section, with the war-tower (polemopyrgos) reigning over the hotel and the broader region alike. An interaction with different levels and the composition of the buildings walled in by stone courtyards and stone-built staircases give the impression of a self-contained village. All of the hotel’s buildings were restored in utter compliance with Mani’s genuine architecture. As a result, the restoration works managed to bring forth their particular structural and morphology-related features, thus rendering Pappoudiko an exceptional and utterly genuine specimen of Mani’s architectural design.
